Ezer (pronounced with a long a as in razor) is a Hebrew military word meaning strong helper or warrior. Ezer is used in the Bible most often for God as Israel's helper in time of need. God calls the woman "ezer" when he creates her to join the man in battling the Enemy and spreading God's gracious kingdom throughout the earth.
"The Lord God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper [ezer] suitable for him."
